Welcome! Now that you’re actually here, I can share the things that don’t make it onto the listing or the tourist maps.
AT THE BEACH
Lloyd’s Beach – residents and renters only. Soft sand, the best view of the lighthouse on the coast, and almost no one there on a weekday morning. Parking is along the road; occasionally someone is at the gate with a notebook to take your name and address, so just be ready for that.
Church’s Beach on Seapowet in Tiverton is where locals go when they want real quiet – marsh views, the Sakonnet, herons. No services, no crowds.
At low tide, you can dig for littlenecks right at Seapowet. Bring a bucket.
FOR A PICNIC
The end of Taylor’s Lane in Little Compton dead-ends at a stone wall with views out toward Sakonnet Point. No official beach, no parking lot – just one of the most peaceful spots on the coast. Bring everything you need and stay a while.
FOR SUNSET
Sakonnet Point or Fogland Beach. Either one. Go late, bring a drink, and don’t rush back.
FOR COFFEE
Art Café, or grab something and sit in the backyard at Gray’s. You’ll understand why locals don’t leave.
BEFORE YOU HEAD TO THE BEACH
Stop at Wilbur’s Store for lunch. Get the lobster roll if it’s on. Or pick up lunch at Greenwood Chicken, don’t forget the dip; the locals rave about their sauces.
